Ticket rush – 20,000 already have tickets to the hit musical Änglagård

2.6.2026 NEWS

Interest in Svenska Teatern’s major autumn musical is enormous. Änglagård premieres on 17 September 2026. Just months after ticket release, 20 000 tickets have already been booked and sold—a clear sign that audiences are eager to experience Änglagård as a spectacular musical with a star-studded cast.

The roles of Fanny and Zac are played by Sannah Nedergård and Mikko Kauppila. Birthe Wingren appears as Ruth. The charming brothers Gottfrid and Ivar are played by Riko Eklundh and Nicke Lignell. Jakob Norrgård, also known from the eurovision act KAJ, plays Mårten, Tero Harjunniemi plays Axel, and Josefin Silén plays Eva. The role of Pastor Henning Collmer is shared by Simon Häger and Joachim Thibblin, and Aaro Wichmann plays the lawyer Ragnar Zetterberg.

Strong international interest

We have previously reported on the musical’s strong international appeal. To date, people from twenty countries have purchased tickets: Afghanistan, Belgium, Denmark, Estonia, Italy, Canada, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Switzerland, Slovenia, the United Kingdom, Sweden, the Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, the United States, Austria—and, of course, Finland.

The international interest can likely be explained in large part by the attention surrounding Jakob Norrgård’s involvement in Änglagård, which has spread on social media through various KAJ groups and Eurovision fan forums. It is also undoubtedly due to the fact that the film Änglagård is available to watch on platforms such as Netflix. The classic film will remain available on the streaming service until the end of the year.

In addition to Swedish and Finnish, the musical will also be surtitled in English. All performances will also feature Swedish audio description.

Brilliant music and colourful characters

This musical is a surefire mix of unforgettable melodies, smart dialogue and situational comedy. You will not want to miss the music composed for the play by Fredrik Kempe, or the engaging script by Edward af Sillén and Daniel Réhn. Adapted and directed by Maria Lundström.

Colin Nutley’s film Änglagård came out in 1992 to immediate acclaim; the musical version premièred at Oscarsteatern in Stockholm thirty years later. The Swedish Theatre in Helsinki is now the first venue outside of Sweden to put on this acclaimed play.

Jakob Norrgård was interviewed by Artistic Director Joachim Thibblin at the press launch. Since then, more than 20,000 tickets have been sold and booked—record numbers for such a short period of time.

Änglagård premieres on 17 September 2026 on the Main Stage of Svenska Teatern.

Änglagård

The must-see musical this year!

The celebrated musical Änglagård combines a touching and entertaining story with brilliant music and colourful characters.

The abrupt arrival of Fanny and Zac, a sophisticated and worldly couple, in a sleepy village in the Finnish countryside turns everything upside down, and soon has the whole region in a tailspin. Prejudice and tradition stand against freedom and glamour – and in the midst of the resulting emotional upheaval, unexpected friendships and secret family ties grow.

This musical is a surefire mix of unforgettable melodies, smart dialogue and situational comedy. You will not want to miss the music composed for the play by Fredrik Kempe, or the engaging script by Edward af Sillén and Daniel Réhn. Adapted and directed by Maria Lundström.
