The celebrated musical Änglagård combines a touching and entertaining story with brilliant music and colourful characters.
The abrupt arrival of Fanny and Zac, a sophisticated and worldly couple, in a sleepy village in the Finnish countryside turns everything upside down, and soon has the whole region in a tailspin. Prejudice and tradition stand against freedom and glamour – and in the midst of the resulting emotional upheaval, unexpected friendships and secret family ties grow.
This musical is a surefire mix of unforgettable melodies, smart dialogue and situational comedy. You will not want to miss the music composed for the play by Fredrik Kempe, or the engaging script by Edward af Sillén and Daniel Réhn. Adapted and directed by Maria Lundström.
Colin Nutley’s film Änglagård came out in 1992 to immediate acclaim; the musical version premièred at Oscarsteatern in Stockholm thirty years later. Svenska Teatern (The Swedish Theatre) in Helsinki is now the first venue outside of Sweden to put on this acclaimed play.
