Moominvalley Storytime: The Last Dragon in the World

Moomin 80 – Svenska Teatern joins the celebrations by hosting theatrical storytelling sessions

One day, Moomintroll finds a small dragon – the very last one in the world. He takes it home to Moominvalley, determined to love and cherish it. But the dragon doesn’t love Moomintroll. It only loves Snufkin.

2025 marks the 80th anniversary of the publication of the first Moomin story. Svenska Teatern joins the celebrations by hosting theatrical storytelling sessions, where actors Hellen Willberg and Greta Lignell read and enact scenes from Tove Jansson’s beloved Moomin story.

The Last Dragon in the World explores what it’s like to feel disappointed — and how to deal with those emotions — in a playful and accessible way.

The actors will be speaking in Swedish, but will use Moomin stuffed toys and key words in Finnish to make the story more accessible to those less fluent in Swedish. The event welcomes children aged 4 and up, and is part of the City of Helsinki’s Culture Kids project.
