Guardians of the Gods<\/strong> is a newly written play that will be performed in 11 countries across five continents in 2025. The play is part of The Childhood Project<\/em>, a large international collaboration initiated by Unga Klara<\/a> in Stockholm, in partnership with Unge Viken Teater<\/a> in Norway and Svenska Teatern in Helsinki. The world premiere takes place on May 30th in Diyarbak\u0131r, Turkey. In Finland, the play premieres on September 3rd on the NICKEN stage at Svenska Teatern with the swedish title Gudarnas v\u00e4ktare.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The play is based on interviews with children and adults from 11 different countries across five continents. During 2025, it will be performed in all participating countries in their respective languages.

Sometimes adults seem like gods \u2013 powerful, protective, and kind, but they can also be unpredictable and sometimes dangerous. What adults often overlook is children\u2019s unique ability to see right through them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Guardians of the Gods<\/strong> explores what unites children across the globe: living in a world ruled by adults. The play is written by Erik Uddenberg.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– It is incredibly rewarding to bring people from around the world together around this universal experience: being a child and adapting to adults,<\/em> sais Uddenberg.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Directed by Gustav Deinoff,<\/strong> this global project is a unique opportunity that one might only experience once in a lifetime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

 – This fantastic play gives a voice to children all over the world and will be both affirming and empowering for everyone who gets to see it,<\/em> sais Deinoff. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Largest International Collaboration Ever<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In each country, the play is performed by local actors. In the Finnish version at Svenska Teatern, actors Mitja Sir\u00e9n<\/strong> and Vivi Lindberg <\/strong>will take the stage. Theatre Director Joachim Thibblin<\/strong> is enthusiastic:

 – This project brings something truly unique to the Finnish audience \u2013 a cross-national shared experience of what it means to be a child in a world ruled by adults.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

– We aim to highlight and give space to children\u2019s perspectives. There is also something profoundly unifying about the fact that the same play will be performed simultaneously in so many countries. The international dimension is something we plan to weave into the children\u2019s overall experience using theatre pedagogical tools,<\/em> sais Thibblin.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

– Svenska Teatern continues to focus on providing children and young people with significant theatre experiences. We are approaching Svenska Teatern\u2019s most extensive international collaboration ever with curiosity and pride. Unga Klara always uncompromisingly advocates for children\u2019s rights in both society and art. This partnership is incredibly valuable, sais Thibblin.<\/em> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The world premiere takes place in Diyarbak\u0131r, Turkey, on May 30th.
