About Svenska Teatern<\/h1>\n\n\n\n

Svenska Teatern (the Swedish Theatre) in Helsinki is a Finnish national theatre performing in Swedish \u2013 Finland\u2019s second official language. Most of our performances are surtitled into Finnish, Swedish, and occasionally also into English.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The theatre is located right in the heart of Helsinki. Three different stages offer theatre for all tastes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u200bSvenska Teatern offers a broad repertoire of both domestic and international plays that caters to everyone \u2013 from classics to newly written and from big musicals to children\u2019s plays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Svenska Teatern produces several productions each year. In addition, the repertoire consists of special guest performances and co-productions with other theatres and groups.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Svenska Teatern is committed to audience engagement and outreach, offering a broad range of events in addition to the theatre repertoire. These include play introductions; discussions; workshops; activities for children; and guided tours of the theatre. Guided tours can be booked for groups of 5 to 25 persons. Safer space<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Svenska Teatern follows the principles of equality and a safer space at its events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Every person has the right to participate in Svenska Teatern’s events without any form of discrimination based on race, colour, gender, language, religion, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, ancestry, or any other factor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Every person also has the right to feel safe at the events without fear of any discrimination, harassment, sexual, physical, or verbal abuse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The principles and practices for a safer space aim to create an environment where everyone contributes to an equal, respectful, and open atmosphere and dialogue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Principles for a safer space<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • Respect others’ personal physical and mental space. Respect their autonomy. Do not touch anyone without asking for permission. Remember that you cannot know someone else’s boundaries without asking. Also, request space for yourself if needed.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Do not mock, ridicule, belittle, dismiss, or humiliate anyone with your words, behaviour, or actions. Avoid judging appearances, gossiping, and perpetuating stereotypes.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Do not make assumptions based on appearance or behaviour. Do not assume anyone’s sexuality, gender, nationality, ethnicity, religion, values, socioeconomic background, health, or ability.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Give space. Ensure that everyone has the opportunity to participate in the discussion. Do not override others’ opinions and allow them to speak. Also, respect others’ privacy and handle sensitive topics with care.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Listen and learn. Be open-minded about new topics, people, and perspectives. Approach every situation as an opportunity to learn something new and grow.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Apologize if you have intentionally or unintentionally hurt others.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    What to do if you encounter inappropriate behaviour or harassment:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    If you experience or observe disruptive behaviour during the events, you can contact one of the ushers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
